Our OS release got SlashDotted (July 15, 2009): "With a codebase of over 150k lines of C++ code plus 25k lines in development tools, this is looking like a fairly promising entrant into the open source RTS field. The screenshots are definitely pretty, to say the least." Christopher Tozzi from Ubuntu Linux website WorksWithU wrote a series of really great previews of 0 A.D., documenting its progress throughout 2009-2010: "0 A.D. is probably the only open-source RTS game besides Glest that attempts to bring to Linux users a gaming experience otherwise available only on Windows (or through wine, sometimes). [...] In many senses, gaming represents the final frontier for desktop Linux [...] With its incredible art and intelligent gameplay, however, 0 A.D. stands poised to [...] demonstrat[e] that an open-source project powered by volunteers can produce a modern, cross-platform game on par with the expensive Windows-only packages developed by commercial houses."
