My god carries a hammer. Your god died nailed to a tree. Any questions?

Very, very nice. Another great piece of work by our concept artist.

'Shouldn't we send him a message and call in his help?' Erestor asked. 'It seems that he even has control of the Ring.'
'No, I shouldn't say it that way,' Gandalf said. 'Rather say the Ring hasn't got control of him. He's his own master. But he can't change the ring, nor break the power it has on others.'

No, my name isn't wrong, it's just a combination of Mithrandir and Mithril: look and see: MITHRandI(L/R)

Looks very good. But I don't understand how the shield can be held. Do I understand correctly that the leather is for hanging it over one's shoulder, while there is a handgrip for use in battle?

I thought that using leather strips to hold it in battle is far more practical. Or do I look at it from the wrong perspective? Or do I have no idea about melee fighting?

Caedus,

The brown part with the red leather grip is a long hand bar, so yes, you understand the design correctly :king:
Leather straps are just another way to hold a shield. In ancient times, long shields like this would have hand bars for use in battle :o

Alright but, and correct me if I'm wrong, wouldn't the hand bars mean that if the shield is hit hard, it twists around in your hand?

It's just that I see to difficulties with the leather and that difficulty with the hand bar. And I think that Elves are smart enough to see it too.

Hmm, now that I think about it: are the hand bars a failsafe in case the leather breaks off?

In any case it's concept art, so that detail will probably not come into the game.

Vertical hand bars are believed to add strength to a shield.
I remember they seemed to work fine for Celts, Anglo-Saxons, Viking, Franks, even Romans (although they generally used a horizontal-bar grip) :o
Since carrying a shield this way for the duration of a long march could be quite tiresome, the long leather guigue allows it to be carried over the shoulder :king:
