The Tolkien Reading Group proudly presents its first project ...
Lord of the Rings

Starting on February 28th 2005 our community driven Reading Group will venture in the footsteps of Frodo Baggins and his companions in his quest to destroy the One Ring in the fiery depths of Mount Doom.

The motivation behind this undertaking is quite simple. We will not only have a shared reading experience within the community, but also will deepen the understanding and the respect for the most popular work of Professor Tolkien, for both the first-time reader and the already experienced Tolkien buff.

The How
We will be reading at a pace of one chapter per week. Each new chapter will be announced at the beginning of the week and will be accompanied by a discussion thread, where all members can post their thoughts, ideas, criticisms and background information. This will be done by one of the TLA Staff members in the appropiate Green Dragon subforum.

The When
Beginning on February 28th we will start off on a weekly basis, which should give all interested members ample time to read the 'assigned' chapter. Reading ahead is possible - although not encouraged. If someone faces difficulties to keep up with the pace, he/she can always backtrack on the progress through the existing threads. It is even encouraged to go back from time to time to previous chapters and post new ideas and findings.
