Seriously how far are you guys to complete. Release date estimate: ???
Is the site still half finished. I don't mean to be critical but last time i was here it was pretty... UnderDone . I like the idea though.

we dont have a release date yet - i'll just put it this way ... "when it's done" :)

the site will be replaced soon ... this is one of the things that's currently on our plate.

content-wise we are currently working on revising the Noldorin civilisation (with all their sub-factions e.g. Sons of Fëanor, House of Fingolfin, House of Finarfin and even Gondolin). so once the new website goes live you'll find all the info there.

So you're the token WFG saying right now. "it'll be done when it's done" - Mythos Ruler (I hope).

Lol, that saying has been going on for as long as I have been here. The history of who said it first is now as black as... something that's really black. :)

Are you closer to being 40% or 85% finished with the game. Just asking. :P

And the site hasn't been replaced 'soon.' Looking forward to that.

Yep. I have also wondered when the main site will be replaced. :) Or at least updated. There's nothing wrong with the site as it is now, except that it has almost been an entire year since something was added to the news section. Any news is... well.. news. lol I mean news is good to know. :D Good luck. :)

It seems to be generic to all dead, incomplete/on hiatus (nearly dead), dead and incomplete mods/indie games. Oh and I forgot WIP's. On that topic, it's getting kinda depressing to go around ModDB these days. It's about a 50/1 incomplete or dead/complete or WIP.

:) Of course I'm hoping that WFG can get a 100% strike rate. I would love to play TLA and 0AD. Maybe the sick, ill-formed, 'accidental' pro-creation too. ;)

Which is why during my school holidays ( :) ) I will be trying (again :drunk: ) to learn how to model/skin/do something. If anything needs doing (anything I can learn anyway) tell me what give 6 months  and i'll see what I can learn.

That's about it for now :drunk: .

Well... saying something along the lines of 8% wouldn't be too far fetched...

Ya, I know! I wish I had some computer coding skills (or something like that) so I could help out here, too. I'm thinking of taking a couple classes in college for that.

Anyway, even though official updates are few and far between, they're still there. The problem they're facing (and the group with 0 A.D.) is the lack of motivated manpower right now.

I love ModDB. :) If you like, check out Remorse. It's a next-gen FPS with a class act of an engine that I'm helping develop artistic content for. Be sure to check out our tech demo and see what's so great about our engine. ;)

Dang, if the activity in the forums (TLA specifically) reflects the status of this game it means the game progress is closer to -99%

0 A. D. looks like it's getting not too far from release time. Is there a team ready to take the engine and run with it?

Well, it may look like 0 A.D. is ready to be released soon, but that's mainly due to our Art team being closer to having the required things ready than all of the game being ready. As I've said before the thing is that it takes time to program a game of this complexity, and it's hard to find new programmers who can fill in when the old don't have as much time. (Don't take this as me being mad at our programmers though, rather the opposite, it's great that they continue to work on and there have been new ones who are promising too, it's just that it's not enough to speed up the development.)

it is easy for people to forget that everything we do is coming out of our free time, which is sparse because most poeple on the dev teams goto school and/or work. this is why the answer is usually "its done when its done"

Ah.

I normally assume that the graphics is one of the last layers that goes over a game, and that the core programming of the game goes underneath (i.e. you need to know what the sprites are going to do before you can actually make them).

As for being busy with real life, I remember being invited myself to apply to be a member of the 0. A. D. team. I declined; I couldn't spare the time, and still can't. So believe me - I understand! :)

Core programming is one thing and the rest is another  , but the graphics part of the programming is more or less finished (apart from particles and other special effects). Thanks to our design document we also have quite a good idea of what's required of the graphics, so that's not a problem :) In a way there's higher demands on the programming part too, the art and sound departments and so on "only" have one part to focus on, but the programming department have to deal with code for all parts. And getting everything to work together. So I'm impressed with what we've got so far, it's not easy to get it all to work =)

Lol, sort of. I'd have to say one thing that's encouraging about this game is that in spite of the seeming lack of activity for the past 1 1/2 - 2 years that the team is still continuing to work. Normally, a project like this would have been dropped long ago if the team doubted it's ability to complete it.
Keep up the good work.
