I'm really sorry that I got to ask this question, but: When will we see some more updates to TLA?
I know it has been asked at least a dozen times before, and I think it's a shame that it comes from me this time, but it is just so really discouraging to be following the progress of a game (which I have done for years with TLA now), and then it goes months and months without any new shred of information...

So far as I can tell, TLA seems to be largely on hold while the development team waits for/helps to get 0 A.D. ready, since TLA will be using 0 A.D.'s engine and probably many of the features. Most of what TLA has done recently is concept work: what the character designs will look like and what the subject of the first release of the game will be (namely, a campaign with no economic model). While I would like to see more designs, a good artist takes a while to do good work, and as for the content, the dev team can't do too much before they know for sure what their engine will really be capable of.

In retrospect, it might have been better if the plans for TLA weren't announced until well into the development of 0AD, like now. Otherwise, people expect things to happen... and they don't. :)

Yeah, I'm sorry for the post... I guess this post really is spam, but I just couldn't help myself. I miss the updates, you know :D

But, then again - all the better when they start to arrive again :)

Cool down your delusion, folks.
Her is what i can anticipate so far.

While the general description of Beren is somewhat correct, with our artists dealing with overflow of creativity, the rest of the game has not came to a halt.
Currently we're designing units for a number of civilizations, with some Elven factions and Dwarves being the closest to an acceptable stage (but take into account what Beren correctly stated regarding 0 a.d. engine).

Hope this helps soothing your info hunger for a while... :)

Although I am not going to worry about the future of TLA (until 0 A.D. also stalls, which it hasn't), I would like to see some more discussion on how to make Arda fit into an RTS game. In particular, I would like to discuss how the magic system should work (personally, I think that the sorts of benefits that Wonders generate in Rise of Nations should be what we are looking for: magic yes, but flashy no, but that there should be more things in the game besides Wonder-buildings that generate these sorts of effects).

Also, if we want to discuss stuff, why don't we talk about my planned fan mod project?

Well, i believe everybody is free to discuss your upcoming fan mode, moreover i personally don't see anything against it, as long as we discuss it in the proper thread... :D

As for Magic, we're still clearing it's management, since we need more specs from the 0 a.d. guys before deciding anything definite (on the contrary we'd risk to overshoot the target, i don't know if you get what i mean...)

But please, keep on posting: everybody's comments are welcome and suggestions even more... :)
