This is a 2 question topic
First i would like to know what the use of Jewlery will be. The only use i could think of was to sell at the market or to minor civilizations.
Second when we build a Dwarven city are we only allowed to build on the outside of the mountain or can we plum it's depths? And if we are how is the going to be implemented. Are we going to have see through mountians or do we have to zoom in?

Jewelry does look to be able to increase your gold income.

I don't know the answer to your other question.

As Beren IV said and also fine and magical Jewelry may increase the "prestige" of our civilization (think in Thingol with the Silmarill) if this concept is present in the game.

I suppose the easiest way would be allowing the Dwarf player and allies to see a vertical cut of the mountain so the mountain can be seen as "walls" of normal height and keep the city in one level instead of allowing several levels of depth.

Just my two cents.

Without a navy how will dwarves fare on maps with lots of water?

I don't think that the First Age civilizations are going to be designed to use water, mainly because the conflicts of the First Age did not have much to do with the sea. I understand that the game will be easy to mod, so if you want to create a version of the First Age in which Morgoth plans on invading Cirdan's islands, for example, adding a navy will be pretty easy. Normally, it would consist of just stealing buildings and units from similar civilizations in later ages.

A few answers: jewelry will probably be present as single items of great beaty and renown (as recalled Thingol and the Nauglamir, hem)

Underground cities have been pondered but no decision has been taken yet (plus: i'm not the expert int this field).

Third: navy combat will be limited and most of all the first release of TLA will be foused around events (translated into missions) in FA middle earth, where navy combat has been minimal if not non-existent...

Fourth: i don't think i'm alowed to tell you more... :(

You're as bad as Triumph Studios! (y)

The silence I think is discouraging. I only drop in once a month or so now. I see that 0 A.D. is still slowly making progress, but the silence from TLA and even the absence of an April Fools joke this year implies to me that the entire project is basically in hibernation. 0 A.D. looks close to release, so I hope this means that TLA will start soon, also.
