What language would be most useful to a modder.
Note I have given up on joining either 0AD or TLA.

Well, XML is used for far more things than the web. A lot of programs use XML based file formats, I think AoE3 does as a matter of fact.

Javascript may primarily be a web scripting language, but in the evaluation of different languages that was done in the early development it was chosen to be the scripting language for 0 A.D. All the "heavier coding" is done in C++ though.

Don't forget that ODF and to some extent even "Open"XML are XML.

I've gone through and I've tweaked AoE3, and Star Wars Emprie at War (which also uses XML), and I'm fairly confident I know how to mod it.

Now come the waiting game.
