It's really best to watch it without having any preconceived notions so I'm not telling you more than go watch it :) I don't know much about the game itself, but I like the trailer :D

I doubt it. If you take a look on their website http://ruse.uk.ubi.com/#/videos you'll see more info on the game itself. To me the video is rather two other things, a play on the name of the game and the players remind me a bit about poker players. The way the second person holds his hands when loading the cannons is what especially makes me think that :) That they're doing it on a tactile table is probably just a move by the people who made the trailer to have a reason to make something cool :D

The trailer is very good. It has me thinking that I should follow up and learn more about the game... who knows I may even buy it.

It sounds like it's very deep in the strategy aspect of the game... which is something I don't enjoy as much as an economy/strategy game.

I'll definitely take return to their webpage to see how the game develops.

The trailer reminds me of those Microsoft Surface, from a year or two ago, it's still commercial only and extremely expensive... one day!

I thought the bit at 1:33 with the men in the landing craft was just really rubbish animation. Took me ages to work out what it actually was :)

Mhm, that's the point of the trailer :) The "new" thing about this game is that you can use that kind of things as far as I understand things. Doesn't seem so revolutionary to me, I mean one can use actual units as a fake attack as well. But sure, they might have other things up their sleeve :D

If you watch the HD version on Youtube it looks kind of like they're made of wood, and the sound effects seem to agree. I don't think they did a great job of making it obvious :)

I've often thought a game similar to this trailer would be very cool. I've thought so since being a child and watching Star Wars - the scene on the Falcon where they are playing 3D chess on the round table. A game on a tactile table would be sweet.

PS: I realize this game is a PC game.

Hmmm. Dunno. I'll probably try a demo when it comes out, but until then, I still think Company of Heroes is the best wwii rts I've played. Lots of original stuff to it. Flanking, suprise attacks, decoys, etc, etc.

Deception is the best part of strategy.

Hold on, check this out:

Sounds a lot more interesting here.

Company of Heroes was truly an epic and innovative RTS. I just wish it was a little more historically accurate. The factions seemed a little generic. But the actual gameplay itself was outstanding. It would have been cool to implement a kind of "Call of Duty" mode like how Midway tried to do in Rise&Fall. If they could have pulled that off, it would have been number 1 RTS of all time. heh

Indeed. And there were only two. That was a big downer. No Japanese. No Russians. No Pacific or Eastern Europe Battlefields. It was very limited in scope, but the value you placed on each of your 'units' and their survival was, I think, a unique aspect of the game. Hearing your infantry detachment scream when a hidden machine gun tore through their ranks was just as tragic as your tank bursting through a cement wall to flank and destroy your opponent's armor was mirthful.

An incredibly awesome game, but it did have limitations, as you say.

I hope R.U.S.E. turns out even better, but by the looks of it, it doesn't look like its going for what CoH went for. We'll have to wait till the game comes out to make a decision on whether both games can actually be discussed in the same category.

Just logged in to Steam yesterday and saw that there's a free beta for RUSE out now. Was pretty late so I let it download during the night and I've played a bit against the AI today (played one game against a human player, but failed miserably :P ). I'm not too used to WWII era games, so it took a while for me to get into it, but after a while I think I got it (y)

Interesting!
Not very much fine-control there (sweep+shove), but definitely something new.
About the landing craft: yeah, looks kind of like cardboard in Youtube.
