Plenty of animals, peacock is my favourite.

Wish can add one more:
Huntable Violent: Snake (Rattle, Cobra, King Cobra)? Might be good for dessert campaign, something like valley of snakes or snakes attacking villages?

Fried Banana, Steamed Banana, Banana Kolak, Nagasari, Banana Ceriping, and still many more delicious banana based cuisine.

Snakes might be doable. Will someone come up with a list of snakes possible for the different biomes, then we can choose which to include (those that are most recognizable and most known for those environments).

Well, eagles, hawks and vultures are also found in deserts. And I think we should add wildasses too.

Cobra + King cobra (spit venom? ideal for scenarios like valley of the snakes or snake islands)
Python + Boa (big snakes)
Rattlesnake (sidewinding on sand)
any info on ice snake and water snake?

Not sure which biomes they belong though.

i have some suggestions for what animals could be represented in the game myself. there will be some overlap here, and some could be added at later times rather than all at once depending on the environment (for example, its not really necessary to include latin american animals since the game largely takes place in the old world). i'll be listing these all the same, though some would be infeasible (im just listing them from my source):
  • Rattlesnake
  • Pronghorn
  • American Bison
  • Two-Toed Sloth
  • Marmoset
  • Crested Seriema
  • Mole Rat
  • Beaver
  • Fallow Deer
  • Giraffe
  • Gorilla
  • African Elephant
  • Tiger
  • Tarsier
  • Peafowl
  • Greater Bird of Paradise
  • Red Kangaroo
  • Platypus
  • Peccary
  • Raccoon
  • Llama
  • Armadillo
  • Opossum
  • Chimpanzee
  • Rhinoceros
  • Antelope
  • Squirrel
  • Colugo
  • Cockatoo
  • Cassowary
  • Tree Kangaroo
  • Polar Bear
  • Orca
  • Blue Whale
  • Crabeater Seal
  • Leopard Seal
  • Emperor Penguin
  • Raven
  • Arctic Fox
  • Capercaillie
  • Snowy Owl
  • Brown Lemming
  • Arctic Skua
  • Musk Ox
  • Brent Goose
  • Rock Ptarmigan
  • Arctic Hare
  • Wolf
  • Wolverine
  • Caribou
  • Woodchuck
  • White-tailed Deer
  • American Black Bear
  • European Badger
  • Red Fox
  • Aurochs
  • European Wood Bison
  • European Hare
  • Guanaco
  • Saiga
  • Springhaas
  • Plains Wolf
  • Coyote
  • Maned Wolf
  • Prairie Dog
  • Pampas Cat
  • Tawny Eagle
  • Red-tailed Hawk
  • Prairie Falcon
  • Sage Grouse
  • Black Grouse
  • Roadrunner
  • Dromedary Camel
  • Bactrian Camel
  • Addax
  • Dorcas Gazelle
  • Great Horned Owl
  • Gila Monster
  • Eland
  • Wildebeest
  • Grant's Zebra
  • Topi
  • Thomson's Gazelle
  • Lion
  • Leopard
  • Cheetah
  • African Wild Dog
  • Jackal
  • Spotted Hyena
  • White-Backed Vulture
  • Ostrich
  • Secretary Bird
  • Aardwolf
  • Aardvark
  • Shoebill Stork
  • Goliath Heron
  • Sitatunga
  • Hippopotamus
  • Crowned Eagle
  • Sacred Langur
  • Royal Python
  • Orangutan
  • Tree Pangolin
  • Orange-Rumped Agouti
  • Forest Buffalo
  • Okapi
  • Tapir
  • Wild Pig
  • Yak
  • Snow Leopard
  • Blue Sheep
  • Asiatic Black Bear
  • Rocky Mountain Goat
  • Red Panda
  • Amazonian Manatee
  • African Spoonbill
  • Spectacled Caiman
however, given this list, another thing that i would recommend is replacing as many of these animals as possible with collective versions instead of so many specific species. for example, instead of having one specifically called "American Black Bear" or "Bengal Tiger", there can just be generic "Bear" and "Tiger" so that those can be considered to encompass all sorts of similarly sized and related animals, even if its technically inaccurate. alternatively, maybe some animals can have different textures depending on the dominant biome in an area, so tigers in a predominantly winter-styled map would resemble siberian tigers instead of bengals

also, i think some generic prehistoric animals would be good for design purposes. namely:
  • Seymouria (?)
  • Scutosaurus
  • Dimetrodon
  • Lystrosaurus (?)
  • Corythosaurus/Hadrosaurus
  • Deinonychus/Utahraptor
  • Brachiosaurus/Apatosaurus
  • Struthiomimus
  • Tyrannosaurus
  • Triceratops
  • Plesiosaurus
  • Rhamphorhynchus (cosmetic)
ideally, there would be representation of at least one animal from every major group of dinosaurs and other notable prehistoric animals (which i would be happy to look into if anyone else likes it, being a paleo-nerd myself) but these twelve (perhaps replacing a few of them) would be the more important ones. alternatively, a prehistoric animal list could be compiled based on old fiction (like Doyle's original Lost World). and this doesnt even mention animals that died out more recently

i could also compile lists of plant life that could be included, if anyone's interested

I don't think the game will need "kangaroos." :) I think the list is pretty close to complete for now. we could probably take a couple more suggestions, as long as they are essential to the biome. For the current complete list, please see the first post.

yeah, i saw the list; i was just giving my own suggestions that could be used to amend the list with new critters. of the ones i suggested, id simplify it down to:
  • African Wild Dog
  • Armadillo
  • Beaver
  • Bison
  • Capercaillie
  • Cassowary (?)
  • Chimpanzee
  • Eland
  • Giraffe
  • Kangaroo (?)
  • Leopard Seal (?)
  • Llama
  • Musk Ox
  • Opossum
  • Orangutan
  • Pangolin
  • Penguin (?)
  • Platypus (?)
  • Raccoon
  • Rattlesnake
  • Raven
  • Saiga
  • Tapir
  • Wolverine
i attached (?)'s to the Australasian and Antarctic animals because, even in the scope of maps included just for fun (like the polar ones) those ones would be less likely than an American or Far Eastern environment. as an aside, i would also recommend looking at other RTS games and cross-comparing animals from those games with your own. for example, AOM had a crowned crane as well as sharing alot of animals that you have listed

also, i thought you were also planning to include a dragon for a special random map?

Giraffes were accidentally left off the list. I'll add them. We won't do any American animals (bison, llamas, muskox) or Australian animals.

i get the American and Australian animals, but "bison" can technically refer to a European species. or would you prefer to use the term "wisent"?

as for your question, lion.kanzen, the guanaco is a relative of the llama (see, camels actually evolved in South America and later migrated to the Americas, where they died out completely, and to Africa and Asia, where they persist today in the more classical camel forms)

Oh! Excellent suggestion, then. I'll add it for Temperate and Steppe biomes.

EDIT: Looks like the list settling on 52 total animals. WFG will need lots of help to model, texture, and animate them all! :)

Hi! For the animals I propose to insert an A.I as in AOE; in this game, if a villager or a soldier passed near to a lion or an alligator, the animal attacked him! Besides during the game, if a gazella was found near to a lion, the lion attacked her! Why not to introduce this in 0 A.D.? Still, if the animal is killed, its quantity of food must be reduced alone during the time. In Aoe series is so, this simulates the decomposition. What do you think of it?Sorry for my english, but i'm italian and I'm not speak english wery well. :P

Lions already do attack player units. I also suggested that if a unit attacks a child elephant, nearby adult elephants should retaliate to simulate herd behavior. But it was not well-received :P

I like that too. If my memory is good, in AoM and AoE III , when a villager is attacked by an enemy or a beast, he fights back, and all the villagers that are close to him (who can see the scene in their field of vision, I guess) stop their work to help him. When the danger is gone they all get back to their respective work. I've noticed that it was not (yet ?) the case in 0AD, but it would be cool if fighting herd animals (like elephants) had the same behavior.
