What did you find was good or bad about the AI in other games? For example... a good AI trait that I liked in Rise of Nations, was if you had an idle worker who was idle for more than a set period of time, he would go find his own work to do.
What are some that you can think of?

The Idle Worker thing in RoN was ok, include it is my advice! But a good AI helps their allies, and are using different tactics! I think!

I like a good balance between micromanagement and villager AI. I don't think micromanagement should EVER been completely removed from an RTS game, because that's what seperates the "men from the boys" (i.e. experts from beginners). To get very good at an RTS game, you need to be able to micromanage AND strategize at the same time.
That said, I like games that take a little focus OFF of micro. A good example is the "farm queues" in the AoK X-pack. You could buy farms in advance, so when your farms expired, your villagers would automatically replant them instead of waiting around for you to manually do it.

I liked being able to queue farm but I also Like Allied AI actually acting like Allies and responding to how you play rather than acting like a seperate player. Mabey even to the point of giving advice and assistance when needed.

i never liked how farms produce for for infinety, i liked it on the AoK ex pack where you'd have to cue the farms up. Without it, it makes eco-management to easy imo
i also liked it in EE where if you asked for help from an AI ally, he would come with whatever he could.

I think that's the future of AI..how it does interact with Allies. When you play a game, a shooter or whatever, and the computer players coorperate well, then the game is a lot more fun.
I think we should also focus on computer player interactivity.

As a scripter for AOC, I think the Ai should have about the same engine as AOC, but just a bit complicated so it allows interactions between Ai's. That was the only part that was missing IMO, there should also be an enhanced fact checking so all settings in the map can be checked.
I'm looking forward to this game, especially if I'm able to make scripts for this game!
