A suggestion that I make on every message board I go to:

ADD TeX/LaTeX!!!!!!!

For the Hall of Intellectuals, Homework Discussion, and any other board that uses math, it is really helpful because ASCII math isn't exactly the easiest thing to read... :)

Lines like "E = V I_0 \int_0^{d \over f} (1-e^{-t / k}) dt" aren't exactly the easiest things to write either, but I agree that it's much better than the ASCII alternative (and not too ugly when you get used to it). I've heard of Texvc (part of MediaWiki), which can convert TeX equations into PNGs, and I think I used it successfully a while ago, though I'm not sure whether the WFG server is likely to have OCaml installed; are there any other similar programs?

An alternative option would be to support MathML (example, Mozilla info, TeX->MathML converter). And as a bonus, it doesn't work in IE :)

In that case, let's go for it!

A tex font would be neat, but if it only worked in FF that would not be fair to everyone, including me who use IE.

Why? If you choose to use IE over FF you're denying yourself features, that's just the way it is. IE is behind the times. Why should we have to be?

Exceptions made for those who /have/ to use IE (or something else - Lynx, say) for acccessibility or language - but there can't be many such here.

Links pwnz Lynx! :)

In Links, I think that if you go to a message board with TeX in it, it will actually show the TeX code since it can't show images.

Unless the Tex thingy is directly encoded into the browser, I would expect that that's the message board's code that shows the code instead if Links is used. Just a guess though.
