I'm all for bringing the rep system back :) It was the best way to say "thanks" or "congrats" without PMs or something else.

Definitely.

It's an added incentive to posting helpful messages.

I have a question: if it is reimplemented, will we have our old reps back, or are there no usable backups?

Bring it back!

Reason: All of the above

and BTW: I have 3 positive reps if you don't have backup.

I'll give you a rep point if it comes back Tim ;)

I agree with my bro ;) about that...it is the simplest way to say thank you. And Dnas has a valide reason as well :)

Yeah the reps are a good incentive for posting helpful replies but sometimes people forget to give you reps after you help them :)

agreed ... for the same reasons above ... and another reason ... if MotM is kept, what will you give to Members of the Month? :(

Cool! Both 'votes' are unanimous!
Do polls no longer work or something?

I guess this means we'll get reputations back.

After seeing (and posting) several "i'd rep you up if I could"s, I'm highly in favor of the reputation system coming back, if even solely for the HoI. I am, however, against getting our old reps back, but rather have a clean slate.

It's time I give my opinion, and it is quite simple. Reputation was a great mean to show that someone took actively part not only to post, but to bring awesome posts on the forum. So, I think we should reimplement it

Well I think I have the data for the old reps somewhere. I think we would start from scratch and would make rep text only visible for the receiver in his assistant. That way we avoid the hazzle we had with the old implementation. :)

Well, I remember when I was a newcomer here, and it was rather exciting to get messages in your inbox saying, member x has increased your reputation.

I guess there isn't much practical usefulness to it (besides being able to know, at a moment's glance, what someone's [potentially misleading] rep is), but it was a nice cosmetic addition IMO :).

Cheers!
