As I have noted before, one reason why I am interested in TLA because I wish to explore other facets of Arda than those that I already have working games and/or mods for. TLA would, then, be especially useful if it were able to export the results and history of individual games within it to text files upon completion. These outputs would include such features as how many of what kind of units and buildings were produced by whom, how much of each commodity and each good were produced and consumed, and similar details.

It also seems to me that this would be a very easy to program subroutine (at least if you were programming in C - I do not know what you are using. If you like, I could write the subroutine myself and you just call it).

Well, the programming phase hasn't begin yet. We'll take into consideration this idea, but i don't know wether it will be implemented or not.
Thanks for the continuous flow of questions, suggestions and all.... :)

I'm really positive towards this log idea: on the greater scheme of things, it indeed doesn't seem a great amount of work to implant; and it's a great way to learn from past battles and such.

Alternatively (or perhaps co-existingly) a 'record' function could be implanted, like in Age of Empires: The Age of Kings.

I think it would be great to post these logs or recorded games here on the forums to share strategies and ensure an active multiplayer community!

"Christopher was always much concerned with the consistency of the story and on one occasion ... interrupted: 'Last time, you said Bilbo's front door was blue, and you said Thorin had a golden tassel on his hood, but you've just said that Bilbo's front door was green, and the tassel on Thorin's hood was silver'; at which point Ronald exclaimed 'Damn the boy!' and strode across the room to make a note."

well, these logs would not be very hard to write(basicly just a bunch of numbers that increase at certain events) but a "record" function is alot trickier. You have to abstract the input so that it can either be by mouse+keyboard or from a file with stored commands. But, if we already do this to enable easier support for multiplayer it will be easier, but still a bit of work.

Anyway, it's way to early to plan any of these things as alot will change until we are done with design. But the language will be C++.
