It's been over 2 months and I haven't seen any updates and the only conversations being held are by the community, is TLA dead or are you guys taking a break?

What about a third option... the one where TLA members are quite busy IRL but keep working behind the curtain?

I agree with NaurwenT. There must be some work being done, otherwise, I'd think WFG would've announced TLA's abandonment.

Actualy, with all the work being done, and the many hours people like Bernd and Anushka have devoted to making TLA a reality, I'd say that is a pretty rude and ignorant comment :P.

TLA is far from dead.

That isnt the point, I think. The point is that there is very little activity on the forums, either as community or stuff being shown off (screenshots, new game info, etc).

Deacon,

I understand what you're aiming at, but let me tell you that forum activity is something you should not use as a mean to judge the activity of TLA members (all of them)
Even if it's true that one of the forum's goals is to keep people posted on TLA's development, I see it also as a place where members of this community can get together and talk Tolkien, regardless of what is going on behind the curtains.
Yes, some things should and will be updated, and more information on the game's development posted, and although I do not believe it is one of my responsabilities to do so, I shall positively try to keep an eye on this and keep the site as up-to-date as possible.
However, you know what it would be also super-nice? To see community members taking a more pro-active approach towards this project and, perhaps, do something as crazy as writing articles for the Ardaquenta, submit fan-art, etc.... :P

Scolding was not my intention, despite what my posts sound like. I simply meant to clarify what the current situation is and why none should rush into reaching any conclusion just taking the forum activity as base. On top of that, I have suggested activities that could, perhaps, improve the forum experience of those interested in Tolkien and the TLA project ;)

Heh, you disturbed our dragon(esse), there you are roasted to the right point! :D

TLA it's not dead. Things are runnning slowly, but steadly. We've had some IRL issues lately, wich in some cases brought away (and then "back again") some of us. But the project is going on, artwork is drawn, the combat model is squared off, ... etc. etc. etc.
We are focusing on some Campaign missions at the moment (and i'll say no more, for the moment: no use asking for more ;) )

Hope this sooths you the scorches a bit... B)

Yes, Adam stepped down from project leader quite awhile ago, he really isn't working on the project anymore.

is there a demo of any kind, or will there ever be one? I have tried the demos section on the main page, but it says it's under construction. Does this mean that one is coming soon, or is there one somewhere else?

both games (0 A.D. and TLA) developed by WFG are still in production and there is no date yet for the release of a demo, a public beta or the whole game itself.

After 0AD and TLA, what do you think will become of Wildfire Games? Do you think it'll continue to make projects, or close down?

@rinion

i can only speak for TLA - as i see it, work on TLA will probably not stop for a long time - since there's so much material we can cover.

we are currently concentrating our efforts solely on the First Age of the Sun - and that alone is an enourmous amount of work.

our first release will be 'Nern Ennorath' - depending on the general state of the game we will publish it in chunks and so the users can download the individual Story Campaigns as they are released by the team.

at that point the community will not only be able to create their own scenarios and campaigns but also to create their own modifications. the game itself will be 'very' mod-friendly.

further down the road we are toying with the concept to create a game mode that takes a look at a more global perspective. but this is still some ways off.

hope this helps!
-bernd

p.s. the topic title is kind of morbid  - i'll adjust this ...
