Age:
27
Occupation:
Part-time musician, recording engineer, student, job-hunting smile.gif

Skills and Experience:
You may listen to samples of my previous work at my web site, http://www.studio-lontas.com. I produced the soundtrack for a local production of Shakespeare's Macbeth. I contributed music to the game Eternal Lands. I am a mobile recording specialist; I have a small collection of self-sourced sound effects and can easily produce many more. I also understand the basic acoustics of 3D positional audio--though I am not able to program, I can describe to the programmers a simple way to implement it if it's not already taken care of by the sound libraries.

Motivation:
I am the kind of guy who will take apart his gear and solder new op amps onto the circuit board because it means slightly better sound quality. I love music and audio; it is my life. I also love video games of all kinds. I used to connect a tape deck up to my Super Nintendo just to record the music from the games. I have met my favorite game music composer, Nobuo Uematsu, twice.

Personality:
I am level-headed when it matters, and I am very passionate and emotional when it matters!

Short Essay:
I discovered you through the recent Slashdot article. I have been looking for an open-source game project to become a part of, and from looking at the screenshots of 0 A.D., I know that you are serious about this. I am interested in honing my skills, testing my resolve, and applying myself to something that can benefit many people. I would like to get my name out there and work in game/film audio eventually.

Interests and Hobbies:
I enjoy playing with my shortwave radio, building antennas, picking up stations from around the world. I am also interested in building electronic kits of various kinds. I plan on getting IPC certified so I can get a job in electronics assembly. Besides that, I do like to go outside from time to time smile.gif and I enjoy experimenting with cooking.

Favorite Game:
Currently I am enjoying the gameplay of Final Fantasy 12. Overall, I think Final Fantasy 8 is becoming my favorite game--the quality of the production is exquisite, and the plot has a special place in my heart.

Thank you for your application Chris. I like your compositions, very nice! Do you have any examples of some sound design work online? SFX that could/would suit a game like 0AD? Additionally please add me on MSN (Fojosian@hotmail.com) so we could chat a little bit about the project.

Cheers

Hi Matt, thanks for the compliment. I'm going to be honest and tell you that my primary interest is composing music. As such, that is what my history is, and currently I don't have any sound effects that would directly apply to a game like 0 A.D. The closest thing I can offer you is to go to my web site and listen to the Macbeth sound demo (the first file in my flash music player). You will hear some eerie sound effects that I crafted myself, but they are obviously of a very different nature than what 0 A.D. would need. If I work on 0 A.D., I would create all the sounds from scratch rather than pulling things from my existing collection.

I do have a self-created collection of some ambient/eerie sounds like footsteps on a creaky floor, wind blowing through leaves, water running down a sewer, other random stuff--which I don't think would be useful for 0 A.D. If you would like to hear any of it, I can put something online and link you.

I've added you to my MSN contacts.
