Hi Daniel! Thanks for your application.
I'm in charge of the new website development and you seem to have very advanced skills. Do you have any past work you can show? (Also, can I have a link to the article you were reading? I'm just curious).

I, for one, am eager to continue work on the new website ASAP. I'm sure you're as excited to work on the new website as we are, so even a very small sample of work in PHP or jQuery will do. If it shows a good level of proficiency, for all I'm concerned we can interview you within the next few days.

I have spoken with Daniel over MSN and he seems every bit as knowledgeable and motivated as his application says... I would very much like someone on the team to interview him over MSN or IRC as a final stamp of approval.
I have given Daniel the link to the static pages of the new website, and he says that over the next few days he will put up some new versions of the screenshot gallery to demonstrate his skills and offer some ideas to improve it.

Sounds good. I'm working both tomorrow and Sunday, so if someone else has got the time to do the interview that would be nice.

That's totally up to you, if you think you've got a good enough idea on who he is from your talks already I don't think you're
needed, though I'm sure you'd add to the discussion. To me those hours would be fine (apart from the last ones on Saturday, but that still leaves quite a lot

) so in case we haven't had a chance to talk before that, would it be ok with you Daniel?
